They lead you from your bed with laughter and longing
Beckon you with the promise of night
Dark shadows dance as they offer you drink
Your defenses lower as you take in the sight
Of them
Their tawny eyes, as sharp as their teeth, should fill you with terror
But you’re too comfortable in your illusion and drink
The Fae, the Fair, lead in a fierce dance
And deeper into their spell you sink
The haunting melody drowns out your laughter
Their dance leaves you dizzy in your drink
But when dark fades to dawn, along comes their demise
And grudgingly they return you to bed
Stirring in sleep, you wake with surprise
Strange visions dancing ‘round your head
A dream so real your head still spins
But laughter at your window says otherwise
