In the soft embrace of spring
A soft voice of cherry blossoms coos
Lulling, coaxing into a sense
Of trust, love eternal.
Summer`s merciless drought
Withers the leaves that
Danced so beautifully in the sun
Turning them ashen and brown
In its burning glare.
Like a rose whose petals have fallen away,
Leaving nothing but thorns,
The facade of kindness
Is swept away,
Floating to the ground
Like autumn leaves
To be trampled by
The feet of the indifferent.
Delusions discarded
No longer supported
By the hands of the deceived.
Fallen and disregarded
The leaves begin to decay
Soon to be covered
In a veil of winter`s
Uncaring frost.

Description:
A poem I submitted for school. The topic word/s were "Everyone falls." This may only fit at a stretch, but I didn`t much care for the topic and it only needed to lightly relate to it. I might put more up later.

- Hmm...I didn't find this piece to be depressing at all, probably because autumn is my favorite season. (I hope that's not what you were going for.) You have a way of pulling your readers into the world you've created through prose. Very picturesque and extremely well-done. 5/5

To be honest, this poem is kind of depressing. Maybe it's just the topic, but I'm glad I didn't read this while I was having a bad day.
I like the imagery. The poem doesn't scream "genius" or anything at me but it has a nice flow and a good sound. A job well done, I'd say! - Report As Spam
