I am from plastic ninja daggers
From Costa Rican hammocks and exercise balls
I am from the chained shut attic
And the $20 bill in the wall
I am from the hamster's rock in the garden
The Chinese rocket ship tree
Whose long gone limbs I remember
As if they were my own
I'm from mud baseball and walk the fence
From cone-headed Hunter and Smokey the rabbit
I'm from Squirt Assassins and pillowcase parachutes
And from sleeping bag sleds
I am from the lady in my attic and the man in my basement
And "Deirdre did it!"
I'm from eating birthday candles
I'm from St. Paul and Ireland
I am from pirate's jewels,
Baskettios, and "power"
From "Peter Discovers Gravity"
When the "brick wasn't coming down"
From paint-chipped dog tags
Hanging in the basement
With the barely readable "Hunter" imprinted on them

"What makes up the author" Should be the title of this poem. Not bad actually because it takes thought to see the various influences for what they are and how they might shape a person or be part of someone's emotional make up.
Very good, if a little trite. - Report As Spam
