My Most Terrifying Childhood Experience
Dancing.
Singing.
Some neon.
Some deathly white faces
with black holes instead of eyes.
Shifting form from
cars to
trains to
inflatable monsters
linking themselves using their tails.
Dancing.
Singing.
Twisting and turning,
twirling through dark matter,
glaring into my soul-
an eye-less glare,
a five headed monster
I know will kill me.
It is only possible for
Them.
Dancing.
Singing.
Romping around
with their noses in the air,
slinking,
or trudging
through a pitch black world of nothing
all the while merry
or furious,
They are gruesome either way.
Oh Pink Elephants,
Tormenters of my childhood,
terrorists of my youthful nightmares,
shatter-ers of my psyche,
you haunted me.
Oh, how you haunted me.
My suffering ended only
when Dumbo wakes with a hangover,
and I may rise from beneath the card table.
