Drinking from the cup of poison that is your tainted soul
Looking into the glazed windows that are your frosty eyes
Vowing your sly ways will not let my blood run cold
Trying to see clearly through your thinly-veiled lies
I'm not sure if I can trust you or your alligator tears
You tell me you have changed as we gaze at the silver moon in the night
Your immortally mirrored soul seems to bring out my greatest fears
As the orange flame flickers casting shadows of Autumn light
Clinking glass and eerie thanks as you slide closer now
Slip your arm around my waist and chuckle about the 'Good Times'
But being cut and twisted and contorted, not sure how
That can be translated into the lemon of a dozen limes
Listen to the tests of time as I excuse my presence
Wipe away the salty tears that engulf my bruised face
Closing the chapter in the book of life titled 'Painful Love's Essence'
As knife to wrist inevitably I know i'll cry and break.
