Years ago, Years untold, the Faeries roamed free
With dryads, nymphs, and other Fey, more than your mind could see.
From hither to yon, they gaily tramped, leaving beauty in their wake
Until the day that mankind woke and took it all away.
The Faeries fled, the dryads hid, the nymphs dove ever-deeper,
for only distance could save them from their dreaded human reapers.
The decades past, centuries too, until naught did remain
save folklore and fairytales to tell us of their fate.
But do not fret, my dear young friend, for gone though they may be,
In another world, another land, they are joyous and free.
Their voices chime upon the wind, leaving smiles as they go
and if you listen quietly, their story you will know.
So raise your voice and clap your hands, for Magik isn't lost
so long as we remember those who gave all that they'd got
We'll find ourselves among the clouds and stars and sun and moon,
when liberation doth reach your soul, your freedom shall ensue.
- Title: Freedom of the Fey
- Artist: Vaidurya
- Description: A simple poem comprised of couplets, describing the transfer of fantasy creatures and themes from "accepted thought" to fiction. Took me about 15 minutes to write, and I can't seem to find an image ANYWHERE that is even close to what I had pictured in my mind when writing.
