As I grab a seat on my favourite chair
Something that's said on TV makes me stare
"A brave, loyal soldier has died today,"
It can't be my father I think No way
But what he says next, makes me stop and freeze
My lip starts to qiver and I get shakey knees
The name on the TV belongs to no other
Then my very own beloved father
"He died just this morning, at seven A.M."
The reporter then says as tears drip off my chin
"This is a terrible nightmare!" I shout
But this is a painful reality, no doubt
My mother then runs in and asks "What's the matter?"
If I tell her I know that her life would be shattered
Still I point to the TV with little regret
And the look on her face I will never forget
Her face became pale and her eyes filled with tears
It then became eviden't this was both our worst fear
We both want him back. There's no lies there, it's true
And father, if you can hear me, listen, "I love you."
