The Bitter Waltz
(one two three, one two three)
Her gown lightly swept the floor,
Time passed like snow on a window pane.
Her pearls reflecting black,
No turning back.
One two three.
One two three.
Once porcelain now pale,
The marionettes continued to dance.
Her smile painted,
Everything becoming tainted.
One two three.
One two three.
Her tattered gown swept the floor,
The clock remained still...frozen on the hour.
Her pearls unstrung,
Her world undone...
One. Two..Three...
One..... Two.

Description:
The doors of the grand hall opened revealing the mask ball, allowing the masses to gaze. Blessed as not an onlooker but a child of royal descent she gathered her skirts to enter. Her hemming had been let down, for tis the fashion, and with a great inwardly sigh made her way to staircase.
The ball was not optional, for it was indeed, her own. Today she would make her début, closing the final chapter of her childhood and sealing the fate of her future.
