• Look at me

    Me, with an expression undecipherable

With eyes not a single colour, but myriad shades of grey

I walk, and the confused world below convulses with distrust

I talk, and the words compose themselves into a harmony of paradoxes

A mere facade: half concealing, half revealing

But you don’t even know what to look for

So you look up; look past the clouds, beyond the sky,

Only to find an emptiness devoid of the answers you seek

Ensnared into a reverie in which your anguished tears will never be kissed dry,

You question every birth, every death and every intake of breath in between

Locked in a destined embrace with your one true love, your hearts intertwine,

Yet I settle in the infinitesimal gap between your merged souls

Will the sobbing voices of trepidation in your head ever cease to haunt you?

You can’t see me; you don’t know me; you never will

Without a shadow of a doubt
