Young face etched with years
Far beyond your time
I could see the breaking point
Written in every line
Too much, it was too much to bear
For such a fragile soul
Trying to direct a storm
That was out of your control
I should have been there
And held you as you cried
But now you’re lost forever
Without a last goodbye
Your dreams lay broken at my feet
Cast carelessly like a precious stone
How could you just throw them away
And leave me here alone
Why wasn’t I upon your shoulder
As you held the metal to your skin
Closing your eyes and pulling the trigger
The pain pouring out from within
I should have been there
And held you as you cried
But now you’re lost forever
Without a last goodbye
I see you when I hear a song
I see you in the starlit sky
I see you when I touch the sand
I see you when I close my eyes
I should have been there
And held you as you cried
But now you’re lost forever
And this is my last goodbye
