• I was searching through the emails of someone I don't know
    and wondering to myself how well this would go
    with every word and every phrase on my computer screen
    I saw people places and things I'd never seen
    It was a strange sort of feeling to sneak at a person's life
    I sifted through their history and perused their happiness and strife

    It wasn't long before I got to the present day
    and saw the journey that they had gone through
    as I looked behind to see what was left
    I knew I had to do something about all the mess
    So I hit the delete button and just like that
    every person place and thing I had seen wasn't part of my past

    I'm deleting my past
    I mean how long can it last
    I can't believe myself as I
    erase every trace of my
    short history

    It's so unnerving to see where I came from
    that I no longer wanted to know where I'd begun
    So as nostalgia was replaced with anger and fear
    I'd put in my e-trash bin all trace of yesteryear
    No longer had I lied about who I was at all
    No longer had I seen myself only 3 inches tall
    As my digital soul descended on a place of no return
    I prayed that it did not ever want to come back

    No longer can I feel bad of what I once was
    For all that's left of me is a recipe because
    god i loved those chocolate cookies of a party I hadn't gone to.
