Honey, if you love me, won't you please, please smile?
I feel as though I'm streched out over a mile.
This stress will kill me one day, you see,
So stop being selfish and smile for me!
You laugh and tell me to stop playing games,
Lecturing me about how I can't acheive fame,
For sure, if I continue to be such a nag.
It's been a long day at school and I'm such a drag.
With this answer you have clearly told,
The traditional response, and it is so cold.
"Honey, I do love you, but I just can't smile,
I don't really care if you're stretched over ten miles."

Description:
I got the idea for this from the camp/drama game where you say "Honey if I love you, won't you please please smile?" and the person has to reply, without smiling, "Honey, you know I love you, but I just can't smile."
Funny how inspiration can come from anywhere, really. - Date: 02/03/2009

- I like the idea, I truly do. But I think that trying to rhyme held you back. Poetry doesn't HAVE to rhyme, you know. It'd be much better if it was just the words pulled straight from your heart. Trust someone who used to FORCE all of her poems to rhyme!
