Dear Sir, you watch me with your critical ways.
Say, this young girl will never do the job right,
but I promise you Sir, I promise, with my will...
You will never find someone more worthy.
You see Sir, I am tired.
Tired of dreaming of something better, seeing a brighter future.
Yet realizing I have not the tools nor wisdom to reach it.
This, Sir, this is the mindset I've been forsaken.
I look into the eyes of myself,
through a mirror of self-doubt and pity.
See a broken woman with too many loose ends
to finish off sewn and tied.
I look into the eyes of my lover,
Who has grown worn of so many nights,
of dreaming of a beautiful awakening
and settling to a depressing and dreary reality.
I look into the eyes of my children, who;
though haven't truly lived, have yet to see the hardships,
they shall face.
The tears they shall see their mother cry and how they will never
be able to live the life of those they wish to be.
I apologize to them, kind man, for I haven't fulfilled my end of the bargain.
My promise to give them something more, what they deserve.
They deserve happiness, profit, and most importantly, the chance to succeed.
And yet, they've come to accept all they have is me.
Do you, Sir, with your hand-tailored suits,
Your Cuban cigars, do you Sir, realize, have you ever;
been in a position such as mine DO YOU IMAGINE EVER,
Looking into the eyes of your son and saying-
"I'm sorry love, no, we don't have any money for that"
Looking at your wife, and knowing you can't give her the pearl earrings
She sold to bring food to the table, her grandmother's pearl earrings from Spain.
I do.
Which is why Sir, I'm quite fit for the job,
For you see, I have goals, dreams, I'd love to fulfill.
and though this is just a job as a maid, I know it's something and that's better
then lying in bed, looking out into the cold, heartless world
and feeling the depression and failure of life.

Description:
Is it a man's will to supply to his family?
Is it up to his supplier to give him the deed?
Is he to sit in his ways, and watch his family suffer?
And live in only selfishness and greed? - Date: 01/31/2009
