A house of disease, a keeper of death
A woman and her daughter, the only ones left
The former, in bed hooked up to the device
The latter, in prayer, not rolling the dice
“Please, please don’t leave
The clock hasn’t stopped just yet
There’s still a few more years left”
One last hope, only one left in sight
A gamble too risky, still shaded by light
They both have their hand, chances looking cold
The elder has spoken; she simply wants to fold
The daughter now gazes, not waiting for fate
The mother just smiles and says it’s too late
With a tick of the clock, her heart begins to drop
By the tock of all time, Death will not stop
“Please, please don’t leave
The clock hasn’t stopped just yet
There’s still a few more years left”
“My child, my child
I believe you are wrong
From this life I have learned
That time doesn’t wait for anyone”
The fermata is heard, it rings through the air
The elder has finished her game of solitaire
