I was told,
I'd grow old,
See the world with my own two eyes,
I was protected,
By a mother of care and love,
A father who showed me life's tough,
I could see the benign faces,
And happy places,
I found that things,
Weren't as an angel sings,
I'm not ready to face reality,
No no,
I'm not ready to face reality,
The real world is beginning to show,
The door is opening wider,
An echo from it creaking open,
Flaws,
Imperfections,
Denial,
Rejections,
I was told,
To live life,
To love life,
To embrace life,
But what is life,
Without pain and strife?
An absence of reality,
Left me an innocent child,
Running along the trees,
Uneasily broken and wild,
But that world,
It creeps up on me,
Its door draws me near,
The pain is showing,
It's becoming clear,
I can feel desolate tears,
The door is finally open,
I see the world with new eyes,
Tell me what to do,
Show me the worth,
Of the tears I cry,
I grasp hold,
Of life itself,
In the darkness of life,
Comes a feeling of longing,
For a light,
To resonate and emanate,
From a shroud of darkness.

- Title: Innocence
- Artist: Unlucky Poison
- Description: This poem is about the innocence of childhood, and the life things learned when growing up. That the innocence that was once held is now gone, and in it's place, the real world is met, and the innocence fades.
