• The heavens were a shade of reminiscence
    As the rains fell forgotten in the evening dreams
    A lingering haze encircled the tombs,
    Lost in a dance that flew with the breeze.

    With a funereal gaze that sang through his mind;
    And drenched to the core with the tears never lost,
    His unseeing glance held memories fading
    As his hands grasped the ribbon she ceased to let drop.

    She was there, neath the poplars that billowed,
    Where the haze never touched, and the river flowed free
    Her stone stood pristine; the rain slowly cascaded,
    The sound of evanescent whispers interwove as he breathed.

    It was time's intermission; tranquil's legacy to the gone
    That allowed him to honor and a chance to forget.
    With a shaking heart, as he choked back the sorrow,
    Her ribbon was left; amongst the eves of regret.

    And sky changed to that of a lost tomorrow,
    The minutes as moments of unwaivering theft.
    The surrounding night enveloped his heart,
    Silence responded to his tears as he wept.
