And we're the same
Even though we're feigning integrity
Honesty in change
The mirror isn't fooled, and neither is our
Self-imposed standard of perfection
We can't be anything but our worst
As we smile sweetly and exchange
Loving oaths, laced with greed
And lethal words left unsaid
But the silent screams keep echoing
'Round the ballrooms of our minds
As our intentions dance a deadly ballet
Leaping over holes in reality
Like they never even existed
Are you ready for the finale?
An explosion of misread statements
And underlying themes
Burst forth in a blaze of glory
Only to fade in due time
Surely forgotten by all
But we know
That it was one hell of a show

- Artist: Weakened As I Am

Description:
This is one of my favorite pieces. I submitted it to a poetry contest, and it was published. I just wanted to see what Gaia thought of it.
If you feel like you've seen this before, you might be right. I submit most of my works to Quizilla under the username StraightEdgexAtheist.
Constructive criticism is always appreciated; flaming is not.
Thank you for reading this, if you did so. =] - Date: 12/10/2008
