a winding road stretches out before me
full of adventures beyond my imagination
a life of freedom and love is within my reach
beckoning me to go forward
A prisoner in my own home
kept in the dark where no one could see me
always told to be silent when I wanted to speak up
nothing but I prize to be sold to the richest player
Forbidden to love the man I wanted
Miserable and restless I sat in the dark
waiting for the winner to take me away
when I saw the brightest light i had ever seen
you were there, luring me forward
he dared me to follow my dreams, to destroy the chains holding me back
to run away
So now I stand here with you in my arms
looking at the road that shall give me my freedom
I shall never go back or see them again
I shall run forever with you by my side
- Title: The winding road
- Artist: KCO_rocks
- Description: this poem is based on a girl in one of the books that I read. I believe the book was called "Catherine called birdy" by Karen Cushman. She was always a prisoner in her home as her father tried to marry her off to the richest man he could find. She longed for freedom.
