Personally, I think you could expand on it, and make it more clear- I understood what was going on far more from your summary than from your poem. And I feel your summary conveys your emotions better than your poem.
I feel as if everyone writes poems in that style... and I can't quite explain what it is. It's vague, and not much gets across. The only reason I can think that it's preferable is if you want to make absolutely sure that
