When can she see that lonely dragon
Perched upon the mountaintop?
It’s when the fireflies dance
On the ponds at night
When the flowers bloom
With cheerful delight
Because
Even if he spreads his wings
In silver moonlight
Or breathes his golden flame
With fierce might
He could never match
Those crazy kids in the pool
Splashing around to stay cool
Or even the life-filled trees
Swaying gently in the breeze
And
He couldn’t possibly compare
To the children playing without a care
Under a radiant fireworks display
Which is why she sees him everyday
She watches him clearly
As he sleeps calm and still
He’s just like
A big rock in the hectic anthill

Description:
I wrote this one about a year ago. This poem is meant to be a part of four poems that sort of tell a story. The four poems are related to the seasons and I wanted all of them to have a different structure to them. This is this is the first part (summer), please read the other ones too! (My Dear, Fire in the Cold, and Thoughts of Spring)
Note: I'll be putting up the other three shortly. - Date: 11/30/2008
