Photographs, memory inscribed
Adorned with many a hopeful grin
Scraps of paper, bits of string
Of childhood vows and dreams within
Forgotten with time’s incessant urging
Too painful, any longer, to withhold
And all but left; a memory box
Veiled with dust and mold
Opportune meeting; a fleeting glance
Without any hint of recognition
Or even a nod of acknowledgement
Cool, stoic masks shielding internal demolition
Maybe it’s best gone, then
Maybe it’s time to let go
We’ll start anew
Me
And You.
Hello, Stranger;
How do you do?
