Once again here I sit..alone and restless
hearing their voices without even listening...
One soft and enticing
the other deep and smooth
like two cats crouching in the grass
ever hiding
always seeking
so close and so distant to me
a soothing mockery
to carry me sweetly into madness
a visage of something long sought
mirages of battles long fought
trophy’s won but never received
then placed high on a shelf
just beyond reach
Omnipresent emptiness
omnipotent loneliness...
drowning in a sea of faces...
and none but myself to call my own.
To reach for the sun pushes it further away,
and to grab it shall burn the flesh from bone.
Two destinies like a double helix...
Always close but never touching.....
- Title: Omnipresent Emptiness
- Artist: Raszra
- Description: The second of two poems i wrote about my time living with my friend, Dreya. This one portrays my frustrations with keeping my own emotions in check. It was especially difficult when she would bring home a guy from time to time. But our relationship had to stay strictly friendly, and nothing more. I wrote this while unavoidably hearing their hushed voices through the walls...
