-
I was made of hardest stone,
From purest adamantine hewn.
Defined lines for all to see,
Carven identity, I knew I was me.
It was you who began the process,
The trickle-turned steady drip,
Your liquid love seeped into the rock,
Immersed in you, I began to slip.
Plans, ambitions, worries,
All dissolve amidst the presence of you.
My objectivity has come undone,
You've pulled me up at the roots.
I was the pristine statue,
Now a frayed handful of threads,
I was once proud and tall,
Now torsos, limbs, and rolling heads.
I used to see you, too;
Quiet mouth and quick fingers,
But my vision has been drowned
Wherever I look, you linger.
I can no longer differentiate
I from you, or you from me.
We are a slew of appendages
I am too close to see.
Submerged, the edges soften,
Identities blur between lovers.
The stone disintegrates, certainty drowned
My past and I have been severed.

- Title: Love
- Artist: aPoeticSecondAgo.
- Description: The title is a dead giveaway. Regarding how your perception of your significant other and even yourself disappears when you've spent enough time together. I have been thinking about this topic for the past month or so, but I only literally just wrote it now - freehand, very slapdash. Regardless, I hope that you enjoy it, and perhaps can even relate to the feeling. =)
