-
It's cold and grey,
My paws are sore.
All work, no play
This winter bore.
I want some chow!
I see a shuffle,
I hit and pow,
A mouse, or a truffle?
That mouse is doomed
In badger paws
I greatly loomed
With open jaws.
"I beg, please wait!"
That mouse did cry.
Without any hate
In his small eye.
"I can get you
What you desire
But spare me do
The funeral pyre."
He gave to me
A little nut
And I could see
Exactly what
He could house
Within his mind
This little mouse
Is quite a find.
I heard his plea.
"You're quite a treat!
Please get me
Something sweet to eat."
I told him this
With a badger smile
One of bliss,
That goes a mile.
He returned
That happy face
It's where I'd learned
A friendship's base.
