Today I walked
down the creek I used
to play in as a child.
The trees were
bigger than
they used to be.
The trail was
smaller than
it used to be.
One tree almost
blocked my path
because of lightning.
I came to an area
where bamboo
grew tall.
I remember picking it, and
placing it in my room
for luck.
I plucked one from
the ground, using
more force than needed.
I tossed the green
from my hand
to the water.
The stick floated
for a while before
stopping on my shore.
Then I picked it up,
and carried it home,
but not for luck.
