- I remember like it was yesterday when the accident took place. I was a little girl who was always smiling about something. That was until April 16. My friend Evangeline was driving me back from the hospital, since my parents were away and she was babysitting me. Earlier I had complained about a stomach ache and she being like a sister to me drove me down to the springs. By the time we got out, the roads were slick and the snowfall was thickening by the minute. As we drove down the icy slick road, The car started to skid out of control. Evangeline instantly tried to get it under control but to no avail. What happened next came in a flash before my eyes. The car began to do barrel rolls down the road. All that I could hear was me screaming at the top of my lungs and Evangeline's screaming as well.It felt like an eternity before the car finally stopped rolling. I had looked up with frightened eyes to see Evangeline was not in her seat. I kicked the car door open and walked to the object lying in the road. It was Evangeline. She had been ejected out of her seat and through the back window when the car started rolling. She was covered in blood and her head was bent at an odd angle. I began to panic to the point of where I was screaming "oh god, oh god Evangeline wake up." I didn't know what to do I was only nine. I had managed to regain enough of my sanity to reach into her pocket, grab her cellphone, and dial 9-1-1. At first they kept asking me to repeat the situation since I was going into emotional shock from the accident. Somehow, I had managed to tell them that there had been a car accident in Westcreek just north of Woodland Park. I held onto Evangeline's hand as I waited for the ambulance to arrive, praying that she would be alright. The ambulance arrived and took us both to the nearest hospital. I got a few stitches due to the head injury I had recieved from the accident. Her brother Jake came and led me into the room where they had Evangeline staying in. I sat down in the chair and began crying a river as I told her "you'll make it". The last words she said to me were " I love you like a sister"
