Chapter Two... Silver wolf
After taking a bath and changing into her sleeping cloths she lay awake in her bed thinking about him. Rolling over in her bed Diana saw April sleeping so she climes out of bed and walked to the window. Her red wavy hair framed her face. Her white and blue tight fitting night gown shown off her slender body. Her porcelai skin glowed in the light of the full moon.
Diana was reaching for her flower when she saw a flash of silver. Diana decided to see him. She quickly put on her fur boots, long fur cote, and thick hat. Slipping her key into her pocket she ran over to the fire place to grab the lantern. She lit it and dashed to the door. After she locked the door she ran down the larg hallway. Because the ground had carpet she didn't make a sound as she ran down the stairs. The lantern had a door on it so the light wasnt shining while she ran.
When she reached the first floor she saw the candle light from the front desk. She looked for a servens door. The only one she saw was a small door behind the desk.
The only way she could think to get out without being seen was to make the woman working at the desk leave. She looked around and say some vases. "If I could just brake one of them. She looked down at her coat and pulled off the very boten button and moved so she could have a clear shot. She through it as hard as she could but it was a but to far to the left. "Ok once more!" She bumped herself up and ripped off another button. This time when she through it the glass broke in to hundreds of shards. "Ahh!" Screamed the woman. She grabbed her candle and ran over to see what happened to the vase. Diana staying low as she ran quickly got to the desk and opened the door. There was a short hallway that led to a door. When she opened the lantern the hall came into light. There where no other doors leading out.
When Diana reached the other door she saw a way to get out. Closing the door on the lantern she snuck out into the store room. Walking behind a line of wine barrels she quickly got to the door. By the door was a basket full of five to ten inch long loofas of French bread. She hadn't been hungry earlier and had decided to skip dinner. So she grabbed a loofa and took a bight before she slipped out of the door.
Diana made a dash for the wood. It was a good thirty meters to the cover of the trees but when she was in school Diana could out run anyone even the boys. She hopped that no one was watching her from there windows. She was glad when she reached the edge of the wood.
Slowing to a walk she put the bread in her mouth to free up her hand to open the lanterns door. The snow gave way as she walked. The moons light castes shadows from the trees. When she was in her room she way the flash of silver on the other side of Mirrorice Lake so that's where she would start looking.
The land in this regain was covered in mountains and hills. The wind here in the wood was nothing more then a braes because of how thick the trees where.
When Diana came to a steep hill she used the trees to help pull and push her way up the hill. The lack was about a quarter mile long and would take her a good bit to walk. At the top of the hill Diana stopped to rest. Walking through the show was proving to be harder then she thought. Placing the lantern next to her she used it to warn up her hands.
Pulling her bread put of her pocket and taking a bight she started to wonder if she should have done this. Suddenly she was surrounded in darkness. Looking up Diana saw thick patches of clouds. "Great, all I need is more darkness." She said sarcastically to herself.
The trees where moving slowly because of the wind. The snow looked like a sea of crystals when the moon was out. This would be something she would remember for a long time. Diana took a deep breath stood and picked up her lantern. Walking down the hill was going to take some skill. It was much steeper then the other side.
Knowing if she fell and got hurt no one would know where she was. So Diana walked even slower. Thinking about each step before she took it she keep thinking that on the way back she was just going to walk around.
After ten long minutes she safely made it to the bottom. "Almost there!" She thought as she stated walking. Diana came accost a clearing with a weeping willow standing tall and strong. It was so green you would have thought it was made of emeralds. "I think I could look around here before I keep looking." she smiled as she walked.
A wolfs growl broke the silence. Diana slowly looked off towards the sound. What she saw shouldn't have been there. Dropping the her lantern she felt her legs about to give out. The creature walked out on four legs but now was walking on two towards her. It had a long snot, sharp teeth that stuck out of its lips. Pointed ears torched on top of his head. And even though silver fur covered all of its body Diana could see its large muscles clearly. It's hands where decorated with long sharp claws. Then there where it's yes they where so black the glowing red in the middle looked as if they where floating in nothingness.
It was staring her right in the eyes. Then the wood went black. For a minuet there was silence. Diana know she was going to die. Then the clouds cleared up just in time to see it jump towards her.
Without thinking she jumped with all her might to get out of its way. Scrambling to her feet she set off in a dead spring out of the clearing. Weaving through the trees was slowing her down. Though it was true the same could be said for the wolf. Her lungs where hurting from the cold air. She could feel how heavy her boots where getting from the snow. When she looked at the ground she could see the shadow of the wolf getting closer to her. Then the shadow disappeared.
Diana looked behind her to see where it was when she suddenly came to a stop. The pain of hitting the rock wall made her stumble and fall to her knees. Tears where running down her face, but she could still see the its large shadow. Diana still on her knees turned to face her death.
Step by step the wolf got closer till it was right in front of her. Looking into its eyes Diana thought she saw joy. It lunged at her.
***Is this it for Diana? Who is the Silver Wolf? You'll find out soon in the next chapters.***
