Dark.
tab Originally a bio weapon created for the purpose of surrounding the enemy in pure darkness in order to corner them. Scientists did not take into account various things before a man of great command and power had ordered it to be used on a country that had been warring with them for ages.
tab Of course, this was a foolish decision. The weapon had a strange effect on the environment . . . and the people. Some simply went mad and proved suicide. Others, were not so lucky. The Dark had infected their bodies and in their being, created monsters. There were a few, very few, survivors of the Dark infection that had undergone the change however maintained their original form. These people were soon to be called the Guruenda, because of their ability to not only manifest darkness but control it and form it to do and create whatever was willed upon it.
tab tab The Dark quickly spread throughout the lands and soon took up more than three quarters of it. By this point. thoughts of government and war was far lost. The only thing left now, was survival. 'Survival of the fittest' as they used to say, when what seemed like ages ago. . .
tab tab tab So the world is at end once again and this leads the scientists, nay, the fathers of this monstrosity to believe it is their fault. Stricken with fear, guilt and prosecution, they began to work on an anti-Dark, which was adequately named Luminous. They attempted to release the Luminous into the bloodstreams of yet-to-be-infected individuals. All attempts failed. . . save one. . .

"Stop! I don't want to be your lab rat! I-I just want to die in peace! Get me out of here!"
tab These words had come in many forms to the ears of Doctor Freedman. He had learned to block these pleas for help out by now... His lab partners as well seemed unphased by the tantrum their experiment was throwing. They were through with cries for help. Each understood the effects of their foolish mistake the first time. They were also, painfully aware at how every one in the world was suffering for something they took part in. Just last week, Doctor Kraine committed suicide. He could no longer handle it. But enough of past experiences.
"Sedate the patient."
"Understood."
"Prep the syringe."
Conversation was very little, the scientists were too grim for it, so they continued working with only a word or two of what was necessary. Doctor Freedman held in his hand their last supply of Luminous. The statistics that this would work at all were very slim, but none had the heart nor the mind to admit defeat.
"No...stop, don't...do this..." The subject said in a quivering whisper.
The doctors paid no heed. After the necessary prepping, Doctor Freedman put metal to flesh and the Luminous was flowing.
--
tab Ava Ladarah's eye lashes fluttered before she slowly opened them to see a brightly lit room. Suddenly she remembered where she was and struggled to get out of her restraints. She was strapped to a metal bed.
"Get me out of this thing!"
tab She felt her body burning and she screamed in agony. She thrust about in her restraints. Her body was still burning, or at least, that's what it felt like to her... She went limp. The pain had consumed her.
"What... have you... done to me...?"
She whimpered. No one answered.
No one even seemed to be around.
tab She looked down at her restraints and gasped. They were reduced to melted liquid. She screamed again for the pain inside her body and again for the hot burning the liquid was doing to the outside of her body. She tried to get up, but thought she wouldn't be able to. To her great surprise, she did get up, but not in the manner she had thought she was going to get up. She had merely thought of standing on the cool floor and so it was. In reality, she had moved at an in human speed, but her brain could not yet grasp the intensity of her predicament.
She screamed. The feel of a gloved hand around her ankle struck her with a fright. But again, she had simply thought of getting away and she was across the room. She looked down to who the hand belonged to. One of the doctors who had held her here.
"I-It, was... a success... Thank...God.." The doctor was on the floor struggling to even get a look at Ava. Ava then noticed the several other doctors on the ground, dead or dying, she couldn't tell. All she knew was one of them seemed close to being alive.
"What did you do to me?!" She screamed. Her voice boomed throughout the room and shattered many glass vials and bases. "W-wonderful... You're flooded with Luminous energy, the possibilities to your transformation could be endless.... Fr-from, what I've seen... inhuman speeds....voice alterations..... even a-a sheltered glow ... Y-you can sa-save them." He said feebly, he reached desperately for one of the formulas scattered on the floor before he passed out again. Life had left him this time.
"What happened here..? Why are they all dead? Did I do this?" Ava began to get antsy for some answers . She walked over to what the doctor had been reaching for. It was an elaborate formula with three words scribbled messily at the bottom. 'Dark Luminous Compound' Ava wasn't sure what it meant but felt it's importance and therefore stuffed it into one of the pockets on her pants. She stumbled out of the room, body aching, head burning but a conscience that told her stopping to rest wasn't an option. So she ran. As far as she could, as fast as she could.
