- The day we met, it was a beautiful day, clear blue skies, bright sunshine, cool breeze, my friends and I were having a good time exploring the book store waiting for movie time. We had been browsing the Science Fiction section when the time came to depart. We walked the short distance to the theater, laughing and joking. Now it was partly my fault for not paying complete attention, but we were both to blame I guess, a friend opened the door and I went in first, or, tried to. I ran into her there, she was leaving the theater having just seen the movie we were all here to see, she had been so preoccupied with her phone she failed to notice me coming through the door, just as I, temporarily blinded by the transition from bring to dark failed to see her exiting. We collided with a thud, her drink dumping all over me as we did. Her attention was quickly diverted towards not falling over as I was a great deal taller than her. She managed to regain her footing but was clearly taken by surprise by it, though I couldn't blame her for it. And while most people would be a little upset by being drenched in soda, any anger or annoyance I felt was quickly shed when I looked into her bright green eyes. She gently smacked herself on the forehead and began to apologize emphatically, I shrugged it off and told her that it was no big deal, and laughed a little about being drenched in soda. My friends had been laughing the entire time, she began asking how she could make up for her klutsyness but I interrupted her and said that it was really alright. Now normally I would never say that a girl like her would be any where near interested in a guy like myself, but she was different, I don't want to go so far as to say something as cliche as saying we had a connection from the very beginning but that is how it felt. She insisted that she had to do something to help, and as seeing a movie drenched in soda was not a preferable option to me, and as I had been brought here by a friend, I had no car to get home to change, so I asked her for a ride. She nodded with a smile and lead me to her car with a quickness. Before we had reached her car I was able to get a better look at her, she had red hair with long flowing curls, she was shorter than me, much shorter as I had mentioned earlier, she had a round face with thick black glasses. We arrived at her car and she got in with-out saying a word. Now from here it gets a little fuzzy, I can only remember a few other times after that, my favorite time with her was a beautiful spring day we had decided to go walk around town and take pictures and then to see a movie in the evening. She took pictures of things we came across, I took pictures of her. We laughed and talked about all the things we saw or things we liked as most people who are friends or more do. After sometime we found ourselves on a pedestrian bridge over a river, I can recall this moment the clearest of them all, the way she looked as she looked out in the distance, her hair gently swaying with the breeze, her hair lit like fire in the dieing rays of the sun, I wish I had taken a picture of her there, maybe I did and lost it, but if I hadn't, I wish I had and if I did, I would I could find it. We sat on a bench there just looking out, neither one of us saying a thing, she rested her head on my shoulder, the way she smelled like vanilla, how soft her hair was, all of this clearer than crystal. As the light faded and gave way to the stars we turned our gaze upward and looked for constellations, even making up our own, some of them comical, some of them deep and meaningful, as we looked on a single shooting star zipped across the sky. This was the first one I had ever seen in my life, and as it did I watched in amazement, I hadn't noticed that she was looking at me, she leaned up to my ear and whispered "make a wish" I closed my eyes and made a wish, and as I did she kissed my cheek. I wished for her. After this I cannot remember anything else. I know that something happened, because one day I awoke to a world where she wasn't there. I looked around town, endlessly walking the streets looking for the girl who I had wished for so long ago, but I never found her. One night sometime after I had give up hope, I found myself on that same bridge, staring up at the sky. I recalled those constellations, and it made me warm on the inside. I gazed upward for hours until just like that night that I remember so well a shooting star zipped across the sky. I remembered her words "make a wish" I closed my eyes and wished for her just as I did then. I waited and waited hoping to feel her kiss on my cheek like I had that night. I waited for her until the sun rose but she never came, I sat on the bench we had sat on so long ago and felt empty, she was never real, there was never a girl like her. I went home.
