The smell filled the air around him as he searched through the remains of the house he had long lived in. That horrible stench just quenched every inch of the air around him, sticking on him like glue.
Where had they gone, taken her? He could feel the anger surge from inside him and his skin burn with rage...they had no right to do what they did, not even fair. But, as well as he knew things would end, one way or another they would die in his hands. Crouching, something caught his eye. Maybe it was nothing, but he knew it was a lead to where they'd taken her.
He stood up in the mist of dust and ashes that slowly came over him like snow. Alexander bit his lip, but it didn't hurt, even though he felt he was bleeding. The rage inside him was corroding him with every passing second, even blinding his judgement.
He started down the road, turning lefts and rights through the streets of the city, following that weak lead. He could feel he was getting close, his heart told him so, and the smell was getting stronger by the minute.
As he ran, his thoughts went back to Jackie, to every second of the day he had spent with her after they casually met one winter day a bit more than a year ago. He could remember her eyes and her brown hair, her crazy looks...all seemed so distant, but he kept all these feelings locked up inside him.
Even after he told her that he wasn't a normal guy and that probably they'd come hunting his head for bounty, she stuck with him. Jackie was, what you could call, a "magnetic" person and you simply couldn't live without her.
Alex saw he was leaving town and heading for the bay where the large industries were, antique, tetric and empty at that hour...maybe a perfect part-time hideout. He came across a fence and easily ran right through it...her voice calling.
A watch dog growled at him as he came nearby, but Alexander jus gave him a look and soon enough became friends. No time for aquick scout, and he said goodbye to the canine, maybe because it could be the last time he'd se one.
He walked indoors and the footsteps echoed through the halls as he unsuccessfully tried to walk silently through them. Sadly, his brave try gave no results as he was surrounded by a group of 10 men with weapons. Alex was fast, but not that much.
Escorted quickly, he arrieved at the inner room in which Jakcie was tied and muzzed.
"Well, if it isn't the most bothering, persistant and foolish person in the world..."
Alex knew that voice...yes, but from where? He stood silent while listening to the man talk.
"We had to take some other measures in which to reveal your real power."
The man made a sign and Jackie was unmuzzled...
"Dont tell them anything, Xander!" she yelled, but a slap in the face kept her silent.
More anger swelled from inside, more hate and revengeful desires.
"Stay down Jackie, this'll wont be something you like to see..." Alex told her, clenching his fists.
A group of thugs landed in the floor between him and her. He could feel the anger swelling and his skin harden. They fought quckly, fast enough to not see their movements but they all got hit. Eevery time he dealt a hit with one of his fists, he could feel the anger inside him swell and turn into pleasure...something bad, he knew. He quickly reduced all of them, even if they had weapons, but they were all spread out, which was a much easier job to do than down the hallways, and he got hit a few times. Alex managed to stand up after seeing the dead corpses lay in the floor. He walked foward, his eyes emanating a reddish color and his aura showed around him...
The man took a step back with fear in his eyes, trying to avoid any type of contact.
Xander jus took Jackie in his arms and walked to the door. He knew, as well as she did, that this was not even close to finishing...but how could him and her be together forever if he was under persuit?
He jus walked and his anger faded slowly, she had that ability over him. As they walked away, she was still unconcient, but Alexander heard the roar, the sound of gunpowder roared through his head. Then he felt it, a cold streak of blood coming out of him. Mortally wounded, He turned to look back at the man, who pointed at him again. Alex left Jackie on the floor beside him and leaped foward taking away the weapon from his hands...faster than he could react.
"Who are you..?" the man incredulously asked. But Xander jus gave a simple answer: "Someone you don't want to make angry right now, and you have"
With one strike, he took the mans soul away, but Alex was severly wounded by the shot. He went to where he had left her, layed down on his back and put his head against her thighs.
"I tried to fullfill my promise with you, but I couldn't, I know that you'll forgive me, and I know that I made a change for the greater good, but I wont be able to say goodbye...I...I....Love...you...
And there he faded away. Jackie awoke and started to cry her soul out, but then she saw the cooling tears that ran down Alexanders cold cheeks.
There she saw whom she had loved for so long, and knew he tried...
"I love you too... you've fulfilled your word. Now, be on your way..."
