Final Words
On this war torn world there is no prosperous life. Mankind had waged a century long war. The fighting showed no sign of ending. Each side sought to cripple the other by burning their food and destroying their supplies. This his left the surface of the world barren, the only water that can be found is either underground or too polluted to drink.
Neither side showed signs of of weakening, just when both sides were ready to skip to their last resort Three bright lights appeared in the sky. A blue light to the North, a red light to the South-East and a green light in the South-West. Each light brought down a single woman wearing robes the colors of their respective lights.
They brought word that all the fighting had to stop, each one showed an awesome display of power and ended the century long war. They had come to this world as harbingers of their husbands, the three great God Kings.
In a decade's time the three God Kings arrived and brought life back to the planet. Food once again grew and cattle once again roamed. An age of prosperity finally came to the world. Enough time had passed and everyone had forgotten of the great war that had plagued their world for so long.
A man looking somewhere in his forties sat in a bar, trying to drink his troubles away in the bitter beverages they had given him. His stool old and the legs were uneven. Without knowing it he was rocking the stool lost in thought.
"Praise the God Kings!" Someone cheered in a drunken stupor. In a senseless fury the man stood from his stool and back the drunk into a corner. He pulled a knife from his vest and stabbed it into the wall next to the man's head.
"Don't you dare cheer for him! Don't even think of any of them in a positive light!" The man spat at him. He turned and went back to his stool. He put some gold coins on the counter and left.
He pushed out into the cold night air with nothing but an old vest, a pair of jeans with ripped knees and a pair of old boots. He was a mercenary just looking for a decent job but now that the God Kings had taken everything upon themselves there was nothing left for mercenaries. He knew it was time to pick a different career but was too stubborn.
He thought back to the first time he expressed hatred for the God Kings. It was a Fall day. His wife and daughter were working around the house while he was finishing up in his office. The God King to the North had a son who had fallen in love with his daughter. He paid the family a visit and asked if he could take the hand the beautiful young woman in holy matrimony. When the father refused the God King sentence him to imprisonment while his wife was executed. His daughter was forced to wed the prince and when his father, the God King died he took the throne.
Everyday of his life the father cursed Cration for taking his daughter and killing his wife. He was eventually released, maybe the young man had soft spot for his father-in-law, though everyone doubted it. The most common opinion was that he was cocky and let the man go.
After his release the man became a mercenary and left behind all traces of who he used to be. No one knew why he did what he did or what reasons he could have had to do it. None of that mattered now, he couldn't even remember his name anymore. He eventually forgot the names of his loved ones
He was cursed the day his family was taken from him and ever since he wished he could change his decision or save his wife. From the moment he forget to moment he died he was only called Mercenary. He had no memory of anything else.
"I loved them so much..." He whispered to himself as he strolled down a dark ally with a tear sliding down his cheek.
