Chapter I-The Introduction
“Hey, Agorian,” shouts the inmate in the cell next to yours,” Wake up! Ah, you’re awake. Red, bumpy skinned creature. You’re as ugly as my grandma’s corpse! Hey, you hear that? The guards are coming…for you! You better hope it’s not to slay you! Oh, did they tell you? You are going to die in here, Agorian!”
You hear a gate close down the hall. “Lock that gate behind us, Leroy.” says Renault Akavir, the captain of the Imperial Watch’s Emperor Guard division, called the Swords. Leroy complies, “Yessir.” Leroy is a Sword. You hear their footsteps getting closer. “Are they dead?” asks Emperor Tiber Septim. “We do not know, Sire. The messenger only said the heirs were attacked,” Captain Renault says. “What’s this prisoner doing here? This cell is off-limits to inmates!” Another Sword, Jauffre, replied,” Maybe a mix-up with the Watch, I gue…” “Never mind, it is too late to change his cell now. Get that gate open! Stand back, inmate! We won’t hesitate to kill you if you get in our way!” says Captain Renault.
The Swords and Emperor Tiber enter your cell. You move to the back of the cell and sit on the bedroll in your cell. “You, I’ve seen you,” says Emperor Tiber.
“Let me see your face. Yes, you are the one from my dreams. Then the stars were right, and this is the day. Gods give me strength…” You interrupt him. “What’s going on?” you ask. Emperor Tiber answers, “Assassins attacked my sons, and I am next. My Swords are leading me out of the city along a secret escape route. By chance, the entrance is in your cell. Perhaps the Nine Divines placed you here so we may meet.” The Nine Divines are the gods that most Hassians worship. They are Taros, Stendare, Julian, Mari, Vernado, Annatto, Hilo, Granados, and Shorath. Each of the Nine also has a star. Taros has The Warrior. Stendare has The Mare.
Julian has The Lover. Mari has The Shadow. Vernado has The Worker. Annatto has The Genius. Hilo has The Mage. Granados has The Swimmer. Shorath has The Acrobat. Together, these stars make up The Circle of The Nine Divines. Each Hassian is born under one of the stars in The Circle.
The Emperor asks you, “Which star in The Circle were you born under?” You reply, “The Worker is my sign in The Circle.” Each sign in The Circle has effects that add bonuses to the abilities of those born under it. The Warrior has enhanced skill with a Blade-type weapon, and can use the Double Damage ability once a day to double the damage he does with any weapon. The Mare runs faster and regains stamina quickly. The Lover can paralyze foes with The Kiss power, which can be used once a day. The Shadow is better at sneaking, and can use the Chameleon ability once a day to become invisible for 60 seconds. The Worker is stronger and can use the Powerhouse ability once a day to double the amount of weight he can carry for 30 minutes. The Genius has enhanced intelligence skill and can pick locks easier. The Mage has more Magicka and the spells they cast are more effective. Magicka is the measure of how much magic you have at any one time. Casting spells uses Magicka, and you cannot cast spells if your Magicka is too low. The Swimmer can swim faster, and use the Breathe ability once a day to be able to breathe water for 10 minutes. The Acrobat can jump higher, and can use the Feather ability once a day to jump twice as high for 20 minutes. Emperor Tiber tells you, “The signs I read show that the end of my path is near. You must stand against ‘The Prince of Doom’ Mehrunes Razore and the evils of the Daedra, and close shut the jaws of Oblivion.” Oblivion is the world of the Daedra. Each gate leads to a plane of Oblivion. Each plane can only be entered or exited by the gate it has. There are 10 planes, each with its own Oblivion lord. Each plane is different, depending on the lord ruling it. Some are hellfire and brimstone, some are sandy deserts, and some are lush fields. But all contain Daedra, and each plane has its own type of Daedra, suited for its plane. The ten planes are: Lava Pit, ruled by Mehrunes Razore; Madhouse, ruled by Anthrax; Desert, ruled by The Sandman; Prairie, ruled by Hillod; Brimstone, ruled by Fireman; Abyss, ruled by Sheoreogath; Graveyard, ruled by Undertaker; Summerset Isle, ruled by The High Elf; Morrowind, ruled by The Dark Elf; and Forrest Realm, ruled by The Wood Elf. Summerset Isle, Morrowind, and Forrest Plane have gates connecting each other, and they all are partly ruled by each of the Elves, with the one that was listed having the most power in their plane. The elves aren’t Daedra, but are elves that were chosen by Mehrunes to rule and design the last 3 planes, since there are only 7 true Daedra lords.
Each plane’s theme and style is dependent on the ruler. Anthrax is the craziest of the Daedra lords, so his plane, Madhouse, matches that crazy style. Mehrunes Razore is very demonic, and falls under the typical Daedric stereotype. His realm, Lava Pit, is full of that hellfire and brimstone. The Wood Elf likes temperate forests and woodlands. His plane, Forrest Realm, is a temperate forest with Daedra that are similar to the woodland creatures found in Hassius.
Chapter II-Assassination
Captain Renault was getting worried. “Sire, we must keep moving. We are giving the assassins more time to search for us by standing here, engaged in idle chatter. And you, Prisoner, stay out of our way. This is official business that is to be handled by the Swords and only the Swords.
But, if you must help, carry this torch. At least, then, it will be easier for us to see in the darker areas. You comply, and you hold the torch for the Swords and Emperor Tiber Septim. “We must go through the caverns under the palace. Those caverns lead to the Imperial Subterrance, which is where the sewers are. The sewers leave the city. After that, we will find our way to the edge of the Hassius Midlands, where then we would ponder over our next move. If you stay with us and prove to be a worthy companion, we will free you, give you armor and weapons, lightly train you, and then induct you into the Swords. After that, you would help us decide what to do after we leave the Midlands. Is that okay with you, inmate?” asked Captain Renault. You reply, “Oh yeah, that’s ok with me.” Renault then gave you a dagger. He said that it was for defense and protecting the Emperor, and nothing else unless you keep it after freedom. Then, he would be able to use it for hunting, combat in the Imperial Arena, or other legally-allowed causes. The Imperial Arena is located in the southeastern part of the Imperial City. It is a hub for gladiators and gamblers alike from around Hassius and the rest of the Urielan region .The Urielan region is Hassius and the other areas conquered by the great great grandfather of Emperor Tiber, Sir Uriel Septim VII, in the beginning of the First Era. Each era starts when an emperor is crowned, and ends with the death of the emperor of that era. Emperor Tiber is the ruler in the Fifth Era. The other lands in the Urielan region were lost. Starting in the middle of the Second Era, the regions rebelled. These regions rebelled and gained freedom at their respective times: Morrowall-midway into the Second Era; Valendale-midway into the Second Era; Blackwood Swamp-right before the end of the Second Era; and East Revile Plains-at the start of the Fifth Era. “Ok…what is the dagger made of?” you ask. Renault pauses for a second, then replies. “It is 100% pure steel, with trace amounts of iron for extra strength to prevent breaking.
“Captain, I think we should get moving,” says Jauffre. Renault agrees with him, and starts opening the door. You hear a breath. “What’s that?” you think. The door finishes opening. Captain Renault is shocked. “Assassins! We waited too long! Inmate, time to use that dagger I gave you. You can search the bodies of any assassins. Maybe they have valuable information.” You slay the assassin with the dagger. Captain Renault is shocked with your combat skill. “How do you have this experience in combat?” he asks. You reply, telling him you were one of the mercenaries helping the Imperial Guardsmen during the rebellion of the East Revile plains. You also reveal that you are a former Arena combatant that was at Gladiator rank. “Dang…why did you leave the Arena?” Renault asks. You tell him you disliked the level of pay for fighting for your life, but admit you regret leaving the arena. Renault asks another question. “Will you rejoin the arena upon getting out, if you do?” You reply, “Of course, now that I realized how high the pay was compared to other dangerous jobs. That is, if I have the time to, and if they would let me…since I am imprisoned.” Renault replied, saying he would send them a letter of allowance.
