It is the day before Halloween again. Young children are dressing up to go trick or treating and older children are off partying. It is a good time to remember celebrations from years ago. Twenty years ago, children dressed up as vampires and witches and begged neighbors for treats. Now our children dress up as computers and cell phones and traverse planets to get the best treats. Young teens went out to parties and some never came back home. Now we know exactly where our kids are with the track implants, so children come home safe and on time. Hundreds of years ago Halloween was a celebration of the harvest or to protect against the colds of winter. Now with the cyber farms consistently growing food year round and the weather controls stopping most of the extreme weather conditions, why do we still celebrate Halloween? Is it because it is so fun, every year the decorations get more and more extreme and the costumes more and more outlandish? Maybe twenty years in the future we might be able to change ourselves into the creatures we now only get to dress up as. But for now, Happy Halloween!
