• The darkness was unbearable.

    How it seemed denser than natural light should be was unusual to Monnie as she floated though the vast expanse of darkness. Where am I? She wondered to herself as she gently drifted though the emptiness. How did I get here? She could remember nothing. But these thoughts were quickly pushed out of her mind as a new one dawned on her. It’s so cold. She began to shiver, for indeed an icy chill had made itself known. Slowly the cold grew as any remaining light was absorbed by the thick blanket of darkness surrounding her. Make it stop she wished as the piercing cold enter her body; draining any lingering warmth left, leaving her feel alone and hopless...

    But as she was being consumed by darkness; a wind began to blow, twisting and swirling around her, as if to offer comfort. Warm to the touch, it brought with it a faint light, which steadily began to grow. Soon the light’s shine was easily able to penetrate the thick darkness; glowing so bright that it reached the very ends of the expanse, yet you could look directly at it eyes wide. Its rays of warmth felt of the same deep magic as the wind; a magic that was strong and pure, and yet was soothing to the soul.... It was no wonder Monnie was gazing innocently at the light’s source, lost for words; when an image began to form in the swirling light mass.

    Are those wings? She wondered vaguely as she watched the image indeed take on the shape of two majestic, white-feathered wings. Her eyes widened in awe and she felt her own heart skip a beat as the wings opened to revile the figure beneath. All she could muster was a sharp intake of breath as she gazed, transfixed by the sight.

    An angel was smiling before her.
