• Chapter 1: Agito

Just another boring day like any other. Agito sat in class, daydreaming off into space. All he could think of was Mizuki. He had never told her that he liked her because he was afraid about how she'd react. She wasn't at school today. Agito was a sophmore in high school. He's 16, your average kid. He wasn't very athletic, he was more brains than brawn. After school, he checked his cell phone for any messages from Mizuki. "No New Messages". Now he was starting to get worried, it wasn't like Mizuki to not respond, she would text message like there was no tomorrow if she was ever bored. "It's probably nothing." Agito thought. There could've been countless possiblities on why she didn't reply. Agito hurried home, when he got inside his house he was surprised to see a letter on the table. It read, "You have been selected to participate in the Soul Breaker tournament, to win, you must kill all of your opponents. Your prize is: Mizuki. Good luck." Agito was confused... "What kind of sick joke is this?!" He looked on the back of the letter and saw, "First round, Agito vs Alice." "This is stupid, I bet Raye is behind all this, that jerk, when I see him, I'll-."

    The doorbell rang.

Agito headed toward the door still irritated by the letter and the fact that Mizuki happened to not be at school today. It's probably a total coincidence. He opened the door to a girl. She was about Agito's age, with long blonde hair. She held a dagger in her hand, but it was glowing green and giving off a weird green smoke. Agito stepped back, she didn't seem very friendly. "Who are you?! What's with the knife?!" She didn't say anything, just glared at Agito. Agito noticed that her eyes were red from crying. "I want my dad back..." the girl said softly. Agito didn't know what to make of that remark, he just slowly backed away. "I'll get him back no matter what." said the girl, she walked slowly toward Agito and her dagger's glow grew brighter. Agito didn't know what to say, this all seemed insane. Agito tried to calm her, "Look, I don't know what you're talking about, I'm sure we can work this out, just let go of that knife!" She gave Agito a funny look. "Don't you get it? There's no other way, you MUST die!". She lunged at Agito. Agito quickly dodged the attack and started running toward the kitchen. "Oh god, what the hell. This is insane! I'm going to die!" Agito thought. He quickly looked around for a weapon and picked up a... butter knife. It was better than nothing. He noticed a strange faint blue smoke coming from his hands when he touched the knife. "What the?!" The girl ran in the kitchen and saw Agito. "I'm sorry!" She yelled and attacked again. Wildly slashing, Agito couldn't get away. She cut Agito's left arm. "Agh, crap!" Agito winced in pain. He closed his eyes and lunged foward desperatly with the knife he had. He suddenly felt liquid run down his hand. When he opened his eyes, he was his knife buried deep inside the girl's chest, her blood ran down his arm. "Oh my god, I'm sorry! I... I didn't mean to! I..." Agito quickly pulled out the knife and held the girl in his arms. She started to cry and whispered, "I hope you find whatever you've lost. I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm..." She grew cold.

A man in a black suit appeared behind them.

"Congradulations Agito, you have won round one. You will be notified when your next match is." said the man in the black suit. All Agito could do was panic, "What the hell are you talking about?! Help me! She's dying! I didn't mean to! Please..." The man simply laughed and said, "Aren't you happy? You're one step closer to obtaining your most precious thing in life. The first kill is always a little... nasty. Anyways, like I said, congrats and see you soon, if you're still alive." And with that, the man was surrounded by a black flame and vanished into thin air. Agito couldn't believe his eyes. The girl in his arms started to fade. Her body slowly dissappeared, little by little, she gave off a strange glow. Soon she completely dissappeared right in Agito's arms and the glow was gone too. Agito just stood there. He had killed a girl. He had killed. A girl. A girl was killed by him, Agito. He could barely comprehend what was happening. He thought, "She was Alice. They took her father, like they took Mizuki." ... "Now both Alice and her father are gone... Because of me."

"What am I going to do...?"
