"Let's Start Over"
-Ariel Reid-
I was walking to class, band class actually, well running to band class in reality. So let's start over.
"I was running to band class." Yes, that's much better, much more accurate. I was flying, barely touching the ground. I was in rare form today, being so dangerously close to being late. Okay, so that's the bell as I pull out my instrument. So scratch the last sentence and let's start over.
"I was running to band class. As I pulled out my instrument, the bell rang. I'm late." Good, now it's less wordy. Because I don't have any time to think as I slithered, snake-like, practically invisible, through the stands and band members. Wait, nevermind; I've been discovered. As it turns out, my teacher is in rare form today, too. Who knew a human face could resemble an erupting volcano so convincingly. I need to change this, so let's start over.
"I was running to band class. As I pulled out my instrument, the bell rang. I'm late. And in trouble." Perfect. Hopefully I can keep my story this way. Shoot, I forgot my music. I need to add something, so let's start over.
"I was running to band class. As I pulled out my instrument, the bell rang. I'm late. And in big trouble." That was kind of ridiculous to repeat all that, but necessary. Band class is over. I get caught in the tide and am dragged this way and that up the steps out of the band room, but miscount and trip on the last one, thus falling on my face. Something momentous has once again happened, so let's start over.
"I was running to band class. As I pulled out my instrument, the bell rang. I'm late. And in big trouble. And now my face hurts." Awesome. Please God, I don't want to change this story again, because every time I do, it's due to something terrible occurring. I'm done with this mess. Grumbling, I sit up and look dead into the eyes of a handsome boy from the brass section. He asks if I'm okay and my heart literally explodes, so let's start over, for the last time.
"Today I met a boy, and he was so amazing that nothing could harm the rest of my day."
